Who qualifies for housing assistance?
Centre County Housing Authority’s affordable housing programs are based on incomes for the area. Many of the rules and regulations for affordable housing programs are set at the federal level by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. They look at information about a certain area, like Centre County, to see how much money people make, how much apartments cost to rent and how much it costs to live there. They use all of that data to determine people’s need for assistance with their housing costs.
The easiest way to find out if you qualify for housing assistance is to call the CCHA at (814) 355-6750. Dial 0 for Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), dial 6 for Elderly & Accessible Housing and dial 7 for the Public Housing and Tax Credit programs.
If you’re interested in seeing the income limits for different programs, call the CCHA at (814) 355-6750.
